Misty method of house training

What is the Misty Method?

The Misty Method is for the breeders home only, from 3 to 8 weeks. It teaches your puppy that there is an elected spot to relieve themselves, this in turn, makes it simpler for the new owner to potty train their new puppy.  It is a way of raising the pups giving them a concept of training at an early age. Essentially, it helps the breeder keep the whelping area clean, it helps the puppy to easily transfer to their new homes.

How does it work?

This means there are a designated toilet area, a place to eat and play, and a place to sleep. After puppies eat, they naturally feel the need to eliminate. What a good puppy! This is the first step toward house training your puppy. Puppies raised using this method have an easier transition to a new home with fewer accidents. They learn from the start there is a place to sleep, a place to play, a place to eat and a place to eliminate and they will carry this concept with them after they leave the breeder.

How do I continue to potty train after the misty method?

After about 8, 9, 10 weeks of age, or when the puppy arrives at their new home, the puppy should be taught to go toilet outside. Try not to have paper or puppy pads inside your home. Peeing is for outside only, or you are teaching your new pup it is okay to wee and poo indoors.

Carry on where the breeder has started. Teach your pup to toilet in a designated spot outdoors, making him think.

After you bring home your new puppy the first thing you need to teach the pup is to walk to the door. Do not carry your puppy. It is important that you make your puppy walk  outside or it will not learn to alert you.
